I’ve been playing with the idea of doing my own subs for a while and considering it’s still the most popular post on this site plus I already had a script to work with, Mighty Lady seemed like a no-brainer.
Now, I cheated a bit. The subs are based on the Chinese DVD subtitles (which are very accurate to the original Japanese dialogue), ran through DeepL and with some grammar cleaned up. There’s a line or two I’m not sure about, but I think it came out a decent translation still.
2014 production. Requested multiple times by different people. Rips aren’t mine, all credit goes to the original (anonymous) uploader. Mirroring it here in case the torrent dies again or it’s wiped elsewhere, which happens more often than not with this kinda stuff…
Story: In 201X, humankind is in a state of war with the monster army “Vilas” that came from outer space. Meanwhile, a huge female alien “Mighty Lady” suddenly appeared. Mankind has been saved by her many times, but no one knows her true identity. However, from her crystal pieces she left behind on the battlefield, it became clear that a Japanese woman could transform into a mighty lady. The “Mighty Lady Academy” was established, and the selected girls worked hard on combat training while maneuvering the giant robot “Grando”, cultured from Mighty Lady’s cells to stop the invasion of Vilas. However, no one has been able to transform into a mighty lady yet, and the girls are dying one after another before the onslaught of the enemy … Beautiful girls destined to suffer and hurt, but never stop struggling!
Released by Daiei Video in 1984 and narrated by Misae Ueno. This is probably one of the rarest movies on this site and something I’ve been looking for for many years. The original heroine tokusatsu that started it all! Copy taken from the best quality available source (Betamax tape). The movie was never re-released on DVD.
Also, my apologies for the audio cracks. I’m not quite sure what happened there, but it’s not an encoding issue, they were already in the original source.
Big Peach Entertainment’s Mighty Lady series is one of the more well known independent tokusatsu works. They heavily feature fan service. The first film was released on VHS by Kadokawa Daei in 1984. Production was resumed in 2001 and has been active ever since, including a 13-episode series in 2014. This particular film was released in 2009 and included a bonus DVD called “Mighty Lady Chronicle”, which features trailers and clips from all Mighty Lady works made up to that point.
