Long time no see! Rest assured, I’m not dead. Contrary to some assumptions, this site has always been run by a single guy. The previous year hasn’t been exactly the kindest to me personally, so there haven’t been any posts in a while. I apologize for that.

Well, what better way to deal with mental health than sub a show focusing on that theme? I fell in love with this series when I first discovered it a year ago. It was one of the most popular late night dramas of the bubble period, and is a beloved classic among members of the Japanese Gen X, but it’s complete unknown outside of Japan itself and has never been translated into English before. This was a collaborative project with geo9875, who previously worked on Sukeban Deka III and Sailor Skirt Rebel Alliance.

Story: Hiromi Ozawa is a girl with a split personality. When Hiromi’s mother was in high school, she became pregnant with her boyfriend’s child, but he abandoned her. Hiromi’s mother gave birth to Hiromi as an illegitimate child, ignoring her parents’ threats. She later commits suicide by drowning, leaving the baby behind. Her grandmother’s verbal abuse and punishments cause Hiromi to repress her own feelings. The sound of breaking glass and the smell of incense trigger her transformation. An honor student by day, a delinquent by night.

Menhera is Japanese slang for people struggling with mental health, but if you suffer from conditions like CPTSD or depression, you’ll appreciate this show on a whole other level.

Tokusatsu enthusiasts will also spot a few familiar faces in the cast, such as Iron King himself and Kenta from Turboranger.

A big shoutout to YouTuber hazel for bringing more attention to this website and the works featured on here. Thanks for your support.

KR Faiz EP26 (Uncensored Broadcast + “Subs”)

DDL | Archive

Posting this because I couldn’t find it anywhere else. The original TV airing of episode 26 of KR555 that was edited for the home video release, with a shitty (but funny) machine translation, taken from an old HK boot.

Featuring the original (dope!) soundtrack by Busta Ryhmes/House of Pain/Kriss Kross/Crooklyn Clan (whatever, it’s a remix…) instead of that stock music crap used for the subsequent DVDs/BDs and fansubs.

Mass murder set to old school hip hop beats. T◯ei, why don’t you go hard like that anymore?

DON’T THIS SHIT MAKE A N***A WANNA…

Super Rider V3 (Rare Uncut Original Version, Subbed)

Welcome to yet another year, and we’re soon running 5 years in in posting obscure shit you’ve never seen or heard about. All for free, because screw the wretched corporate web with its ads and subscription paid services! As a toku fan, you’ve probably seen KR V3, but what about “China Riders vs. Dicks Dragon”?

More commonly known as Super Rider V3, or under the amazing title of Frankenstein’s Kung Fu Monsters (why?), this was the second movie (in continuity) in a trilogy of Kamen Rider remakes produced for Taiwanese cinema in the trippy 70s.

Story: A man is kidnapped by “Doctor Death” (nope, Dicks Dragon! We’re going by the official translation), and is given superpowers; but the man escaped from the evil Dicks Dragon and meets another man, who also, has been kidnapped by the evil doctor and given superpowers. Together they create the “Super Riders” China Riders team and they’re gonna kick the ass of “Satan” (F yeah!!!) and Dicks Dragon’s organization. (IMDb)

This particular copy was sourced from an old Lebanese tape by an unnamed collector. Unfortunately, the video quality also looks like something that’s been dug out of an abandoned, shelled warehouse in the aftermath of the horrible civil war that plagued the country in the latter half of the 20th century. Alas, it offers 3 hard to read, burned in subtitle options, one of which somewhat resembles the English language! And unlike the German Blu-ray release, this is the full, uncut version of the original movie without any overdubbing. And Bereke (thanks for everything!) even went the extra way with providing a second, denoised audio option.

On a serious note, no disrespect intended, and kudos to whoever managed to find it! I love it, seriously! It’s exactly how movies like this should look and be seen. There’s a certain magic charm to old analog video that digital will never replicate…
